Learning - the modern way

I tried to attend a class about marma - which is similar to acupressure. Some how still I doubt that, these people have tried to rename acupressure and each of these points. I may be wrong - as I am quite prejudiced.

OK, I was trying to attend the class.  The teacher was saying "I will surely make these points by heart for you". And so he did.

First he showed the diagrams - and then he explained them. Again and again and ag ain. And then we were supposed to work on these acupressure points. And then there was Q and A session. Next day was revision of the same points again.

Why didn't we learn in this method during our childhood? Ok, stone age, there was no media of any type. If a teacher wanted to display something - he had to draw those on the black board. There might have been some charts in later years.

Anyways, that was ancient past. Now my question is, today what method is employed to teach children? Is it still rote learning? Are there any images involved? What about practical teaching?

Some how I doubt that even private schools and teachers may not be using the plentiful of resources available in their computers for classroom teaching. I may be wrong. It has been half a century since I last attended a school.
