In my DNA

You have heard of the famous story of emperor's new clothes.

Two swindlers arrive at the capital city of an emperor who spends lavishly on clothing at the expense of state matters. Posing as weavers, they offer to supply him with magnificent clothes that are invisible to those who are stupid or incompetent. The emperor hires them, and they set up looms and go to work. A succession of officials, and then the emperor himself, visit them to check their progress. Each sees that the looms are empty but pretends otherwise to avoid being thought a fool.

Finally, the weavers report that the emperor's suit is finished. They mime dressing him and he sets off in a procession before the whole city. The townsfolk uncomfortably go along with the pretense, not wanting to appear inept or stupid, until a child blurts out that the emperor is wearing nothing at all. The people then realize that everyone has been fooled. Although startled, the emperor continues the procession, walking more proudly than ever.

Now all the people kept thinking "every one else can see these divine clothes worn by the emperor. If I say I can't see them, they will think I am either stupid or a sinner. ". And so they too praised the wonderful, non-existent suit!

Do you see similar things happening in this country? Your chacha, chachi, mom, dad, padoswale uncle, door ke rishtewale aunti, and everyone else you know are telling you how great is the government now. They keep telling you, how nothing was done in the last 70 years.

When every one else tells you this, do you believe them or you believe yourself? You were there before this new era started. You have seen the progress before too with your own eyes. You have seen, how the middle class flourished after the globalization - after IT revolution. So, do you not believe yourself?

And you had secularism in your DNA too. You had people from all castes and religions in your schools, in your offices, in your neighborhoods, with you in your houses. You were friends with them, you interacted with them and you knew them to be as good as yourself.

Now because your chacha, chachi, mama, mami and whatsapp groups are telling you that this muslims are bad. And you believe their words against your own experience. When you know in your heart that  a good person is a good person. Period. His/her name doesn't matter and has never mattered.

You have been taught that unity is strength. You have learnt from history that the British divided our countrymen, so that they can rule over us.  Now are you letting your own countrymen do that to you, so that they can rule you.

Open your eyes and see the lies. Please.
