I have come a full circle. From saying prayers in the evening with mom and sisters, to not wanting to visit temples to writing 'funny' blog posts on God and religion to translating religious texts.
But have I become 'devout' person filled with bhakti. I don't think so. Like many of us, my bhakti (and previously my atheism) is limited to my keyboard. I write these translations as I find them interesting - repetitious, but interesting.
What appeals to my mind is the open mindedness of advaita siddanta and the idea of equality and brotherhood (or sisterhood) of mankind.
We are all basically one. I exist in every being (every charachara - moving and unmoving things, not just humans). And every one exists in me.
I find it hard to understand it completely. But the concept is really nice.
If you just get rid of all titles - woman, wife, mother, daughter, you are just a bunch of cells. These cells do some actions, triggered by some other cells. Just like every one else.
This is easier to accept than the concept that some where is a all mighty person who controls all actions in this universe.
