Flowers galore
Bangalore is a beautiful city - at least RR nagar is. Well, don't look at the garbage piles here and there.
Such beautiful homes! But why do I feel that many of them are being maintained by workers because only older people live there. May be because many of the young ones are in another city, another state, another country. And a few remaining ones are not from here and hence are living in apartments big and small. Until they too buy an apartment and become Bangalorean.
And so many flowers in plants and trees. I saw a parijata tree and picked up a tiny flower from the floor. Such divine fragrance - no wonder Lord Krishna's wives had a huge fight over these flowers.
Then there were Sampige trees - Magnolia champaka - they were not flowering yet. But again such wonderful fragrance - strong one too. I remember sampige in my grand mother's house. And my aunts (not much older than myself) climbing the tree to pluck the flowers.
And jasmine plants. I saw a small bud and thought it was gentige ( It is called Barleria it appears.)
Gentige brings back memories again - my aunts - my father's sisters would go and collect the buds and make garlands for us. Not for God. Did you know that you are not supposed to offer non-fragrant flowers to God? Anyways.
Now it is season of May flower. Gigantic trees with red red flowers - decorating the roads in red and some times the tops of cars too. Oh, it is called Gul mohar, it appears. We called it may flower.
