Greed
All the mangoes were plucked, ripened and eaten. Not shared this year - not at all. Because we had very few of them. There were one or two left on the tree -thinking that let this mature a little bit.
The reason was many mangoes this year were not very good - a little bit sour on one side and a wee bit stale on the other side. I concluded the reason was plucking them before they were mature. So at least one or two were left on the tree to be ready. We were certain these are safe as they are invisible from the road. So no one will take it away from us.
We were so wrong. One or two fell on the ground with a scratch on side. And this one was still on the tree. I watch it everyday. Now see what happened - a squirrel or multiple squirrels have been feasting on this.
My husband consoled me - "we got two large fruits which were hidden behind all those leaves. So it is OK". He is a better stoic most of the times.
