Survival mode

I have been busy watching the cockroach party protests and worrying about the kids. Facing the wrath of rulers is not easy in this country, or in any other country. Contrary to what we like to believe, the rulers and even the judiciary is not on the side of common citizen. 

One of the youngsters who was being interviewed was saying "We are kept in survival mode". When a person is in survival mode, little does he care about his rights. He just wants to survive. 

The only ticket out of the class, caste system, out of poverty is being snatched away from the children. Their future is uncertain. All their hard work is being washed away. And they are afraid even their own parents may not be on their side - if they do not secure the seat in these colleges. 

We - the boomers had it easy. We did not have much competition, we did not have distractions either. We could get into professional colleges with much lesser percentages and finish our education with much much lesser cost. 

And the world was not being run by set of fascists. World was not being threatened by war after war. It was not being threatened by artificial intelligence. 

Now nothing is certain for these kids. Will they finish their education? Will they get any job after their education? Even if they get a job, will they able to afford a decent life? Nothing is certain. 

And the best part is, nobody seems to care. Not the governments, nor their parents. A few people who do care are being demonized, shunned or even arrested. 

So, no wonder they are on the streets.
