Angels or Demons?
May be I should not have watched the film "The Pianist".
The film is based on the autobiography of a Polish Jew Musician Wladislaw Spilman. He is a holocaust survivor and the movie describes the events of German occupation of Poland and the aftermath. Where Jews are moved to camps. Then some of them are moved in a train to a place never to come back.
My feeling was why don't you kill them once and for all. Why torture like this?
And the more important question was how and why does man become such a cruel monster? Not one Hitler. But the entire SS army! How does such a thing happen where people lose their humanity completely and become beasts?
Is man an angel or a demon? Or both. Is there some way to stop people from becoming demons?
I think all the religions were basically efforts for converting humans to divine or at least to keep them human. But they have got twisted and tweaked beyond recognition now. Or their spokespersons are not being honest.
God, who ever you are, please help us to become human. Make us as merciful as thou art.
