News

Yesterday I came across an article or rather a book review of Amartya Sen’s book "Home in the world". In that review, there was a mention about the 1943's man-made Bengal famine . I have read about this famine multiple times. And each time I read it, my blood boils.

Apparently during that time in Bengal, around 2 to 3 million people died of of starvation, poverty and diseases.  The reason - mismanagement by the British. And  world war and the soldiers snatching the food of the citizens. Britain prioritizing  soldiers over normal citizens when distributing food and clothes. And also closing of water ways, burning of crop etc. to stop Japanese army coming into India through Bengal. They wanted to win the war or not lose it. What if  few lives of brown people have to be sacrificed for this grand cause.

Grrrrrrrr.

So I think it is time for us to completely ban British and their language. Wait, if  English is banned, what will happen to us Bloggers? Our only way of communication with outside world is through blogging in ugly, ungrammatical English.

But, that's okay, we are willing to go back to our shells. For the sake of respect of our country.

And also, media people, make a note. When you run out of ideas and people to attack, with  indignation, you can always select this newest enemy. With this famine,  Jalianwalabagh mass murder and so many other kaala karnama s, you can easily get minimum an year of content.

I also read few days ago that what people say in our Parliament is not legally binding. Unlike what they say in a court. This point was with reference to  government not providing any affidavits in the snooping case. Interesting.

In today’s news, it seems 21 of the 35 state governments have already used up funds allocated to NREGA project. Good? And  this year, 2.1% of the total budget has been allocated to this project.

So many interesting news and so little head to analyze all these. No wonder, we have had to rely on news channels to understand, analyze and explain it to us. With rightful indignation.
