Unfiltered

I was watching an interview of Jammu and Kashmir politician Omar Abdullah by Samdish yesterday. Was some what overwhelmed by it.

In general, all the interviews in his youtube channel unfiltered are exceptionally good. He interviews Indian politicians often and occasionally film personalities. He asks really tough questions, with a jovial and smiley face. The interviewee is forced to give honest answers. At least it looks like they are being honest. He has interviewed people like Kanhaiya Kumar of JN, Rahul Gandhi, a young politician from aam admi party   and even a BJP minister. Well, Samdish is an ideal version of how a journalist should be. Sad truth is  ideal versions do not materialize often. And we have to make do with people like Navika and Arnab and always wonder what %, if any of the news we are seeing is true.

This particular interview troubled me, because interviewee - Omar Abdullah is  someone who is born with a silver spoon - or I can even say diamond spoon, was brought up a very rich and famous political family, was also a chief minister of J&K. And he was kept under house arrest. (And he was mentioning that during that time, separatist leaders were roaming in the streets of Kashmir freely while politicians were all locked up!) Of course, along with all other political leaders of the state. Did you know about this? Or were you busy celebrating the abrogation of 370 like the rest of us?

Now the interesting facts. When article 370 was abrogated, no political party (outside of J&K ) protested seriously - correct me if I am wrong. And no one protested, when around 2000 politicians from that state were kept in house arrest without contact with outside world - no phone, no mobile, no internet.

One of those arrested was Mehbooba Mufti - the former chief minister, who had formed a government with bjp in Kashmir. So she was a nice person earlier, then suddenly became a bad person, bad enough to be arrested.

And I think the government tasted blood and realized that with their majority in the parliament and a very large (sadly) support base outside, they can do anything they wish. Obviously, they chose to ignore the wide spread opposition to the violence in Manipur and lack of serious effort by both state and central government to contain the violence.

They have witnessed - as we have, the previous issues like Rafale deal, Pegasus, Farmer's laws, Demonetization,... etc fizzle out, while they sat tightly in their cozy chairs.

Oh dear, we have created opened a Pandora's box.

Who knows what kind of political magic books these politicians all over the world read! What kind of magic spells they learn!  They do get away with all kind of misdeeds and still are idolized like movie stars used to be worshiped in good old days.

By bringing back God into the picture, by re-combining  the church and the state, rulers world over are brain washing people. Who knew social media would be so helpful.

Using  religion and nationalism as their tools, they are dividing people, knowingly inciting violence to keep the common man busy. In the meanwhile they are bringing laws to favor their rich friends in the industries.

They are demonizing any one who doesn't agree with them, and are using government machinery to punish these traitors. We all cheer at these punishments and bravery of our leaders!
