When I wrote in an earlier post that I have exhausted all serials in OTT platforms, I was not being completely truthful. I had just finished watching a serial called Run Away, so was taking a break. And Netflix suggested me a similar serial.
It is called "Two graves". Just like Run away, it is about missing young girl. But here instead of parents searching for the missing daughter, it is the abuella - the grand mother who is searching for the girl.
I could relate to the abuella part alright. She too has creases on her face. And she is not bothering to hide her all gray hair. And she is trying to fill her empty life with hobbies. She is a piano teacher.
But when this shrunk old lady started hitting a suspect with hammer and scissors, I did not like it much. And when her acquaintance slowly lowered a car on a man bound to chains, I closed my eyes and turned my neck 180 degrees away from the screen. And switched off the serial.
See, some how Netflix is trying to make me like revenge and violence. I, the meek old lady from India is very non-violent - may be because of both Gandhian philosophies I was brought up with and my in built cowardice. So good bye to such serials. Algorithms, stop altering my brain!
