Creation
Continuing my thought process of unconvinced. All these days I have been searching for something. Frantically, eagerly. Do you call it pursuit of truth, or of ultimate reality? Or search for meaning - of life, of existence? Or it is just a way to fill the long hours of dull days.
I looked into Upanishads, into Bhagavadgita. Tried to make sense of them, by understanding them - their language and their tone and hidden meanings. Unsuccessfully.
Now here it is. Something I can understand and to a large extent agree with. From one of the greatest thinkers of our country - Jiddu Krishnmurthy.
We all know this truth - it is evident. That man created Gods and religions. But we convince ourselves that God created man and this universe. Because the latter belief is more promising. It gives us an idea to hold onto, and a solace.
How many Gods
We all agree on some basic facts. Like there is one sun. And there are many stars. But do we agree on number of God/s? Is there one God, 3 Gods or three thousand of them.
Here is what Krishnamurthy writes.
In Buddhism there is no God; in Hinduism somebody calculated that there are about three
hundred thousand gods—that’s rather fun, you can choose whichever God you like. In
Christianity and Islam there is only one God, based on two books, the Bible and the Koran. So
religions have divided man. Just as nationalism has divided man, so has religious ardor.
Thou shalt not kill
And the worst part is - though all religions say it is sin to kill, people kill one another in the name of religion. The religion which was supposed to protect is becoming the cause of deaths - hundreds and thousands of deaths. And this has been going on for thousands of years.
