Na brUyAt

Was listening to TED talk - until my laptop boots up. She was telling something about why we should speak up. Our political opinions. Doesn't apply here. Doesn't apply to me. The TED talkers, they don't really walk on this earth. They are some where else floating in a bubble. They don't ever realize how rest of us mortals are afraid even to breathe, leave alone express opinions - political or otherwise. In this society where a winner is good because he is winning and because he knows how to suppress dissent and destroy them. And is cheered for this "brave" act, how and why would a lone person raise his voice. He knows too well that "badava nee madagdhangiru". One must keep within one's limits - isn't it the expectation of society from us? We all think and rightfully so. Why do I want to die in a fight when no one is ever going to mourn me?

Lost

I have arrived at in an impossible situation.  Yesterday I was very much upset. Much more than ever. Instead of falling back to memememe lamenting, I tried writing a poem about it. Which looked more like broken sentences by a deranged mind. When I was 12-13 years old, our family used to read stories by some author in a monthly. His stories were twisted and all the characters in the stories were talking as slightly unhinged. Or so we thought. And we all concluded that the author was certainly having unstable mind. I am sounding like that. So I must certainly stop mememe (self centered, please help me, oh, I am a victim here- not to be confused with memes). I can not learn, understand and then blog and then appify the two ancient languages. Because a) vastness of the project b) teamsize is too small c)no external help d) I can't unless I install IDE which is not going to be. So I am certainly in an impossible situtation. I tried dabbing my hand in few webpages with maths for kids. Bu

Forgotten people

We seem to have forgotten about Afghanistan and its people. But people there, are still being attacked by Taliban and sometime even from the people who are there to help them. Here is an article in The Atlantic which tells how a US military, mistakenly dropped bomb on a hospital. Read it.

Daughter from another mother

Just like  Indian movies are obsessed with "Judwa" - twins, Mexicans are obsessed with switched at birth.  In Indian movies, we have Ram and Shyam, Sita aur Gita, Sridevi and Another Sridevi, Rajkumar and another Rajkumar. Such a nice story line- twins - get separated in a mela - one stays with mother and will turn out as a police, other is kidnapped by a robber and turns out as a robber - well, we have seen it all. So many times!!! But in Mexican films, the babies get switched in the hospital. How does that happen is beyond me. There was a TV series called "Switched at birth" where two girls get switched -one white and one latin. Then they some how realize and then the parents of rich girl, look after both girls and blah blah blah. This one I am watching in Netflix is a similar story. "Daughter from another mother" is Mexican TV series, where two mothers get switched babies and get very much attached to some one else's baby. Within a span of 1-2 weeks

Install vairagya

I like any other middle class Indian woman stop myself even in my blogs thinking "what would people say". But it has been proven by statistics that people don't say anything as they don't know and don't care about the existence of this blog. So I should be writing whatever the hell I want to say without much hesitation. See my mother used to say that there are 4 types of vyragyas - renunciations (detachments) in this world. Smashana vairagya (in the cemetery), abhava vairagya(you don't have anything), prasava vairagya (you are having the most painful moment of birhting) and fourth one I don't remember. Let me add a fifth one. This one is called install vairagya. When you have to install the OS all over again, then update the packages and remove the remmima and assorted packages, then install the few IDEs you dare to use. Oh, this pain is worse than any other pain in this side of the universe. So every time I install my OS I take a furious, severe oath &quo

Habeo and habito

Two words in Latin are similar. habet and habitat. Quid habes? What do you have? Librum magnum habemus. I have a large book. Puella rosam album habet. The girl has a white rose. Agricola casam parvam habet. The farmer has a small cottage. Quid habes? What do you have? Conjugation of Habeo habeo habes habet habemus habetis habent   Conjugation of Habito habitō     habitās     habitat     habitāmus     habitātis     habitant

Site for declensions of Sankrit nouns

I was searching about karaka - the case system in Sanskrit. I came across a site called vaagartham.wordpress.in. He had an interesting reconstruction of "Dharma kshetre kurukshetre.." conversation. One of the comments was a request for declension of given noun. If you want to get declension of a given noun - here are two sites  1) Greenmessage.org -  2) sanskrit.inria.fr  There is one more site verbix. This gives conjugations of verbs in various languages including Sanskrit and Latin. So if you need any declension or conjugation help is at hand.

Dharma Kshetra

Does dharma Kshetra come before kurukshetra or after? Or if dharmakshetra had taken place before, there would never have been a Kurukshetra? Anyways, this serial in Netflix called Dharmakshetra is happening afterwards. After everyone is dead and in the other world.   Complete with judge who is Chitragupta and a witness box and everything.  I have a doubt. In the after life, all our limitations and challenges are cured. Or that's what I thought. So why does Dhritarashtra still blind causing his wife to still wear eye mask?  Coming back to the series , the first accused is Draupadi. No surprise in that either. We always accuse the victim, don’t we?  Everyone - Kunti, Gandhari and Duryodhan blames Draupadi and hold her responsible for the war. But Duryodhan has valid question - the person who bet her and lost her in the gambling was her own husband, not Duryodhan. Then why did she take an curse the Kauravas and took an oath to destroy them? Is it because pati is parameshwar, even the

We are not there... yet

But the difference between US of A and us is they have one foxnews channel we have plenty. In all languages.  So it is only a matter of time.

Serious film

Everyone tries to exploit others when and if possible. That seems to be the message of the film "Serious men".  The famous scientist who is fooling the government in the name of "alien microbes", school head mistress trying to give scholarship in exchange for conversion, the politician who wants to use "dalit"ness of the the child for his building project. Even the hero Mani who exploits his own son for "his better future".  Mani is a PA to the above mentioned scientist has a son Adi who is genius. Who is being showered with choicest abuses on a daily basis by the scientist. But unfortunately for him, he is not the imbecile with a primitive mind, his boss thinks him to be. And he certainly does not want his son to face the abuses and insults he is facing. And this child prodigy is becoming quite popular. But Mani teaches him everything. Not in the traditional way but he writes down speeches for the son, makes him memorize them, and when people as

No-tilus

Who doesn't love nautilus? Correction, which ubuntu user doesn't love nautilus? We all do, more so if we are unable to use it. For all those Windows users, nautilus is the GUI file manager in Linux. From time to time, when I get bored of writing very very trivial codes in HTML and js, I try to tinker and that always leaves me in trouble, lot of trouble.  Yesterday, I was able to open the file manager. And worried, I tried running the command nautilus. It told me some tracker something dot so is missing.  What is this tracker file? Why does the file manager needs that? Don't know. Next started an hour long struggle. I tried reinstalling nautilus. My package manager said, it can not do that as it is not downloadable. I tried purging nautilus and reinstalling it. Purging it happily did, but not installing again. Broken packages.  With an hour of hard work, I was finally able to install a working nautilus and now I love it.  Lesson learnt is when you blindly rm some files - ev

Navigator

When you try to go out of the house in these times, it is supposed to be a "yay" moment. But it seldom is. Now I completely forgot what victim card I had prepared and rehearsed. Anyways, I heard a YouTube video by a standup comedian who wanted to sit in the train, in not a very safe train, in the middle of the night, close to the driver of the train and visible to him/her so that he will not get mugged or worse. And he was not sure whether there will be a driver at all. So we are in a similar situation. We can all relate to the kannada song "ನಾವಿಕನಾರೊ ನಡೆಸುವನೆಲ್ಲೊ, ಸಾಗಿದೆ ಜೀವನ ..".   So here are the facts. That we are in this boat which is shaking like a disco dancer. We don't know who is rowing the boat. Whether he/she intends to take us to the shore. Whether it is us who are supposed to row the boat, instead of just whining.

Fun filled roads

This is an old post from an era when terms like road, traffic, vehicles etc were not just dictionary  Fun filled roads  Sep 20, 2017 Today I finally had my jnanodaya - I realised why men like - love their vehicles and are so passionate about it. Men love to have their daily dose of adventure. A vehicle gives it to them. Sitting on it, they feel they have super power, they are invincible. Not only that. Riding a vehicle on Bangalore road gives them real adventure. They have to cross hillocks. (People call them man hole covers). They come across sudden obstructions. And they have to avoid the wells. And if they are lucky and it rains enough, they even get to ride through the rivers.  Luckier ones get to swim in rivers, if they are unable to locate a drain in overflowing roads. For the aggressive types, there can even be verbal duels with extreme invectives. Sad thing is there can not be sword fights.   Occasionally they get to save a damsel in distress - a pretty girl whose vehicle woul
