I was in two different temples in the last few days. Don't call me a hypocrite. But I may be. What I noticed is this - people in a temple are different. They are calmer, content and in peace. Then I realized where I have noticed it before. When a child knows her mom is very near, it will be playing in its own world - without fear. So do grown-ups feel this way in the presence of God - I mean inside a temple? The sense of being protected? Without a worry in the world because God is there to save us? Interesting! Now if only some religious man uses this utter faith for the well being of these people and the country and the earth! Instead of using   innocent faith of people for selfish and some times destructive purposes.

My domestic help was asking was our water purifier was giving shocks Then I remembered why I gave up and decided to buy a new water purifier. The technicians will visit and tinker and go without fixing the error. The same thing is happening with washing machine. The Ifb “franchise” technicians  have visited twice already without fixing the error.  People keep asking me isn’t the machine new?  To make things worse they have broken and attached a new water valve which leaks continuously.  And now there is mini lake in front of our machine. How many more visits is needed before this one year old machine in warranty is fixed?  So am I being paranoid-er  ? Or does every one face so many difficulties in getting their gadgets fixed?  We should bear all this trouble  or leave all the technology behind and go back to living in caves. Ella hane baraha

I watched slightly serious Netflix show yesterday called “Alias Grace”. The serial is based on book by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.  The story is of 19th century and is of a servant girl, who was ill treated by everyone from childhood. At the age of 16, she is accused of killing her master and house keeper with the help of another servant. She spends next 30 years in prison and mental asylum where she is tortured. A psychiatric doctor listens to her story to determine whether she is innocent. This is third story by Atwood I am coming across in recent times. And instead of feeling happy because I was watching some serious because I watch Netflix  to forget and escape. Not to feel sad again  Atwood’s books are wonderful tales of wretched lives. They are so terribly sad that we feel like  running away somewhere and cry out loudly.  As Ted says in “how I met your mother “, I am too old for such tales,  I don’t need such  things in reel life, not distopia.  I need Stories which inspire

You play notes while playing the game. Again I accept that UI could have been improved by a lot. Let me see - there is always a next version. You might say, most sums in my app mathz are very very simple - elementary. And I completely agree with you. While designing, I had a grid version, I had a sum with all possibilities version and so on. But none of them seemed right. So I stuck with the - keep it simple. But the last level has problems which make you think - for a second. I am still searching for better - more interesting mathz options. Early morning I looked into the mirror and found a stranger looking at me. It was not me but a happier and calmer woman. And you have guessed right. I was in my maike - tavaru- mother’s place.   Why am I so peaceful here? Because of the pure love here.  Parents  might disagree with their children,   might be too vocal about it some times. But their love and their desire for child’s best life is almost divine. It is as if their souls  resides in their child.

The famous Kannada poet Muddana might have famously said "padyam vadyam gadyam hradyam". But the poetry has a feature of touching our heart and staying in our mind. I watch many satirists like Akash bannerjee , Dhruv Rathee , Rajeev Nigam . They do beautiful analysis of current political scenario, and put it in a funny way too, but  some thing is missing. And that is a tune, a melody, a something which sticks to your mind and does not let it go. You all know about "Azadi" song which is both famous and infamous and now is also made into movie song. It would have gained its fame if it were a just a prose. There are some youtubers which sing out their frustrations, anger and helplessness and make us (at least some of us - the woke ones ;)  ) think. In alpha state of my brain ( half awake in morning is when you are in alpha stars - that's what some self help video asked me to believe), I was writing a poem about disqualified, defected, anarha legislators from our state, asking people to defeat them. I was framing words for this poem first in Kannada, then in English, then again in Kannada. But now that  I am fully awake, and not at all creative - I decide poem is too much work. Let me prose out my opinions. See, these 17 people were elected by people because they belonged to some party. And for the greed of power and may be money, they left their party and toppled the government. Now, the supreme court has upheld their disqualification but still allows them to contest the by-elections. Now, if they are in they need to be barred from election for next five years. Isn't the reason for making anti-defection law was to discourage such horse trading? Now if they are handled with kids' gloves, what message does that s

The refined flour and biscuits and breads made from that does not suit many Indians. They will be err. .. constipated. But do you know one person who is never constipated ? Never ever ever ever? Yes, you are right! It is Mr. Goswami. Why? Have you seen the way he shouts?  Or, May be that is the exact reason he has his patriotic outbursts of 100 dB.

There are some good outcomes of watching Tv shows. Ok, our mind will try to always justify most of the not so good things we do anyways. Anyhow... There is this TV show called Dr. House- a doctor hospital storyline. Not quite as colourful as Greys Anatomy. The Dr House is brilliant, rude and miserable. Like protagonists of many TV shows. Along with a messed up marriage or affairs, he has another disaster in his life. He limps - instead of getting his leg amputated he lives with pain and - Vicodin.  Now the question is, do these justify his obnoxious behaviour ? Or his excellent skills in diagnostics of mysterious symptoms of patients justify his behaviour ? I don’t agree. No matter what hell you are facing in personal life, you can not be arrogant and rude and hurt others.  So don’t be House. Put your baggage aside and take responsibility for your actions and behaviour  - no matter what. 

This TV series is streamed from Amazon prime . It’s name is “The man in the high castle”  It’s a what if story - no, no, no. Not what about story. What if story. What if the Axis- that is Germany, Japan and Italy would have won Second World War.  The world is being ruled by Japan and Germany. United States has been divided into two halves for these two nation and there is a third neutral zone. There is still anti Semitism - because it is Nazi rule. People are shot, gassed or killed in some other way for trivial crimes. By the Japanese and German police.  Thank God, it is a fiction. But Nazi Germany, Hitler and genocide are facts. They did happen. What converted ordinary German citizens to Nazis - the blood thirsty, most cruel monsters? Hitler alone would not have killed millions of people. He gave orders and his soldiers decimated people - men, women and children. How did men become beasts? Is it anger because of Great Depression, anger for the defeat and humiliation in First World War

Opposition are complaining that outsiders are allowed to visit JK  but not them. How can they visit the state? They are not right. Are they?  The outsiders who came are all right or more righter. So they were allowed. These addled brains can’t understand such a simple thing. They can’t understand that you need to be right to get anything in this new world. Am I not right?

I came across a movie called Manto. That reminded me of an activist called Safdar Hashmi who was killed. For being an activist.  So those who spoke against the establishment were being punished by the government in old days too. But what is new is the hatred for such people by common men and women Our country has been honouring and respecting intellectuals, thinkers, writers. We used to respect them. We might not have followed their ideals being commons as we are. But now we dislike these same people, attack them for their opinions and firmly believe that they are trying to divide our country - tukade tukade gang!! Their place has been taken by politicians. Now we respect, idolise or even deify these politicians. And firmly believe that they are going to bring back the old glory of our country. Ah, the decline has begun!!!

The title seems a little bit off. I did not want to write ctrl and esc and chase away the few readers I still have. Because my topics are not for the people who don't use ctrl esc etc. Our life is a continuous struggle to take control of our life and/or stop others from controlling it.    As children, we resented how our parents controlled our lives. OK, ok, not us - boomers, not people of our generations. We would cry, whine or nag our parents, but it never crossed our tiny minds that we were being controlled. Our children and all these new generation kids- they  hate being controlled by parents. And we have objurgated our control, not unwillingly.  We also resent our spouses for controlling our lives. Ask any man - he says with witty humor how his wife controls every thing in his life. So says his wife. But funny thing is, we do not  resent so much the when government controls us. May be we do not actually realize  the fact completely.    And we certainly do not worry about

We have all heard the saying "Even a mother does not feed the baby unless it cries". And I am realizing the significance of this now - you need to shout and angrily talk. You need to Arnabize your protest - then and only then your problem may see some kind of solution. Again our broad band connection started showing angry - red indicators. It is actually my fault. I became careless and did not switch of the router while not using. So it was indicating red and no internet. Actually I did not need that connection. But who does not like to fight. Over the phone, with poor customer support kids? So I tried calling the customer support of Airtel. First my call went to Airtel TV support. Then when I did get the number, I was unable to make a call. And my call record kept showing cancelled call. Once, twice, thrice. Now it was time to shout at another customer support guy/girl. This time to my mobile network which enables - in this case disables me to make call. After telli

“This is us “ is TV series which was telecast an year ago. I was re watching it today. Not only is the show different and is sentimental, it has a wonderful background music. It is the story of triplets - one of them being adapted and their real life struggles . The story keeps going back and forth between the lives of Rebecca and Jack Pearson and their children.  Untimely death of father Jack has an extreme impact on the twins. And Rebecca herself severely depressed is unable to see or address this problem. Obesity, addiction, depression and among all these the wonderful family bond - I don’t think any other American TV series depicts these realistically.  If you want some serious drama, watch  it - it is available in Amazon prime.

My dear BBMP engineers, it is laudable that your are really working for beautification of our Bengaluru city. You are creating wonderful landscapes in the city. You are creating hillocks, small wells and fields, and all these in the middle of roads! Really praiseworthy! The roads you are digging for laying the sewage pipes really look like fields readied for sowing. And it is raining too, so let us grow some rice and ragi!! And the roads where you finish the pipe laying work will have hillocks or wells. You say they are chambers with man hole covers? You say it is not very easy to place them on level with rest of the road? That is OK, pals. It may slow down the drivers - and they will pause and observe your handiwork. It may also cause the in-efficient ones to fall down on the road. Don't they deserve it? For daring to come on these competitive roads? Keep up the good work, people!!

Saudi is threatening of increasing oil price drastically. Two dear neighbour friends India and Pakistan are threatening of nuke attacks. But do you know who is scared most? Our dear earth mother- bhumata. She is scared that her children - arrogant, ignorant and selfish children are trying to meet the fate of dinosaurs. 

There is one opinion many would agree - many countries in the world are led by populist leaders and there is no cure for this malady. But what is wrong with governments led by populist leaders? For one, they most often are troubled by nearsightedness. And they are more often highly divisive - they try to divide people as "us" and "them". And promise to punish "them" or send "them" away etc, not bothered about the Pandora's box they are opening by doing so.  Most of them are to the right. They help the the rich and powerful, who in turn help these leaders during elections. And worst of all, they believe that "every thing is fair in politics". Even a small amount violence. And of course war-mongering. They convince the common men and women that all these are for the good of nation.  And prestige of the nation. So what is the remedy for this? I really don't know. May be we need a good leader who some how finds a way

Sorry youtuber, for borrowing your channel name. But I am worried endlessly about the state of events and this seems like an apt title. I saw in some newspaper there was an article - or rather a fact check news about Rahul Gandhi eating samosa in flight while visiting flooded Kerala. And it was a fake news. The video was an old one, and this was tweeted by Madhu Kishwar.  Little bit browsing told me that she has 2 million followers including our prime minister and she has a history of circulating such fake news. Against congress, Muslims, Rahul Gandhi, NDTV. Such a great feminist, what happened to her? I used to read her magazine Manushi and used to like the magazine and her. Now what went wrong and made her such a “fake” person?  These are the smart people who use their smartness to fool all of us.  Sudhar jao, Madhuji, Apka karam sudhar jayega.

The film is wonderful- it opens our eyes to the realities of the world which for us is just a “their” state in our country.  How the people go missing, how men and women go every day to the police station to know if there is any news of their child or husband or brother. How they stand in line on some days to identify a dead body. It is sad tale - very very sad.

When I see a jack fruit tree or a cashew tree outside a house here in Bangalore, I try to take a glimpse at name plate of the house. These trees are typical of my native place. (and of course Kerala. ) So no matter where we go, we carry bit of our roots with us. Don’t we? Even people like me who are not rooted so much, anywhere.

I call myself a confused atheist. Spirituality OK, but religion! Not so much. Rituals, festivals? Not a big fan. So when someone talks about the pujas in festivals, you may see my one eye brow slightly higher. No, I am joking. I am not Jeeves. And I do not dare most of the times to contradict any one’s beliefs. A lady senator - let us call her Jane wants to bring a bill called One Australia - where this agency with the same name will have complete control over all communications - encrypted or not. That way the agency can protect their nation from terrorists and rogue elements inside and outside the nation. This Jane has allies of not so good people - as politician are known to have. But the bill has opposition because it violates the privacy of common man. All his private texts, mails and phone calls to his wife, colleague, or an ex-lover or any one becomes not-private. Now what happens is there is a communication attack in the airports. All flights in 3 airports are unable to communicate. In one of the flights is son of defense minister - let us say Max who is completely opposed to One Australia bill. Defense ministry is panicking. They are unable to contact the PM as he is

We all need some role models. In all stages of life.  When we are kids, we look upto our parents, imitate them and want to be them. After certain age, we idolise our teachers. Then may be film stars. Or may be some religious gurus. But I hadn’t come across people in awe of a political person, being his fans and willing to die for him. Not even Gandhiji was adored like this by people of post independence India.  Now suddenly people are literally becoming devotees of this party and its leader. Why and how? Difficult to fathom.

Actor Aparna Sen was seen saying in a TV channel “I don’t want to do what aboutery”. The context was celebrities writing an open letter to the prime minister asking him to reign in the people who are lynching the minorities in the name of Jai Shri Ram. But I want to. I have so many what abouts. What about the remaining billion Indians? Do they condone murder of innocent people just because they belong to another religion?  What about the news channels ? When they can show a small incident 24 hours and have war like discussions about trivial matters, why are they never condemning these killings? What about the Arnabs and Navikas who have declared themselves as representatives of people of this nation? Why are they not talking about these ugly incidents happening in this nation?  What about our beloved politicians - of all color and creed? When they time to perform drama for 15 days for saving or grabbing kursi, don’t they have time to condemn these ghastly events and try to stop such fu

I am being tempted a lot to blog about Netflix shows. But I am not some simple minded woman whose only form of entertainment is tv and Netflix. So. I am re-reading the classic “to sir, with love” and really appreciating it this time.  Braithwaite is young, talented, educated. Yet is unable to find proper job. Because of his skin color. Whenever he goes for an interview, when interviewee sees him face to face, he politely rejects him. It is incongruous you say . People are not descriminated because of their skin color any more. Of course, it is from an olden era. The story happens in post-world war England.  But is it really incongruous ? What did us president say a week ago? Ok, ok those foreign people are not broad minded like us Indians. We don’t insult others, no matter who they are. We just beat them up a liiitle bit, until they are liiitle bit dead. And only if they try to hurt our mother - go mata.  Don’t beat me yet. I am not an anti-national. And definitely a hindu. I am ready

We all want fair skin and dark hair. And our benevolent God is quirky and has a great sense of humor. He granted my wish and said tathastu (so be it)  after all these years. And gave us fair hair and dark skin!

ಇದೆಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ? ಒಂದು ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಬೇರೇನೂ ಕೆಲಸವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅವರು ಸೂಟ್ಕೇಸ್ ಕೊಡಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಸರಕಾರ ಉರುಳಿಸಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರು ಉಳಿಸಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಘನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆಂದೆ ನಾವು ಇವರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿ ಕಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇವಾ? ಈ ಡೊಂಬರಾಟದಿಂದ ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಏನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ? ನಮ್ಮ ನೀರಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಬರದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಬಗೆಹರಿಯುವದಾ?  ಸರಕಾರ ಉರುಳಿಸುವ ಬದಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿಯಾಗಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಲು ಆಳುವ ಪಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ.
